Cortensteel, namely atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, is between ordinary steel and stainless steel low alloy steel series, weathering steel is made of general carbon steel adding a small amount of copper, nickel and other corrosion resistant elements, with high quality steel strength, plastic extension, forming, welding and cutting, abrasion, high temperature, fatigue resistance and other characteristics; The weatherability is 2~8 times of common carbon steel, coating property is 1.5~10 times of common carbon steel. At the same time, it has the characteristics of rust resistance, corrosion resistance and life extension, thinning and consumption reduction, labor saving and energy saving. Weathering steel is mainly used in railway, vehicle, bridge, tower, photovoltaic, high-speed engineering and other long-       term exposure to the atmosphere of the steel structure. Used in the manufacture of containers, railway vehicles, oil derricks, harbour buildings, oil platforms and chemical and petroleum equipment containing hydrogen sulfide corrosion medium containers and other structural parts.

Stainless steel refers to the corrosion resistance of air, steam, water and other weak corrosive medium and acid, alkali, salt and other chemical etched medium corrosion of steel, also known as stainless acid resistant steel. In practical application, the steel with weak corrosion resistance is often called stainless steel, and the steel with chemical corrosion resistance is called acid-resistant steel. Because of the difference in chemical composition, the former is not necessarily resistant to corrosion of chemical media, while the latter is generally rust proof. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel depends on the alloying elements contained in the steel.
